The name Veuve means widow in French, honouring Barbe-Nicole Clicquot, who took over the Champagne house in 1805 at just 27 after her husband's death. A pioneering businesswoman, she revolutionised Champagne production, developing the riddling table in 1816 and creating the first known blended rosé Champagne in 1818.
